Early Years

Here, you will find live singing sessions for each age group every week, themed activities will be suggested for each week of learning and a song bank of favourite songs to dip into when you just fancy a sing-along!

If you'd like to demonstrate any of your work via a video, photograph or recording, please feel free to upload it via the Creative arts google classroom. We would LOVE to see any of your work! There'll be a place for each year group week by week.

Learn a seaside song about a seagull with Mrs Mudd. Perfect for singing in the sunshine! When you've learnt it all, you can sing it all the way through with Mrs Mudd's video in the song bank.

This week I'd love you to make some bubble wrap fish mobiles! Here's how! And if you haven't got any bubblewrap, you can try dipping your fingers into the paint and making lots of tiny dots into fish scales!

Do show me what you've made by sending me a photo or video to the google classroom.

Week beginning Monday 18th May

Reception its a zoo out there.mp4

Here is the next chapter in our 'Carnival of the Animals' journey. This week: Fossils!

Here are some sea-inspired arty ideas for this week:

  • Animal art and templates

  • Salt dough fossils - (if you haven't done these already, they link nicely to our music this week! Especially good if you can take your exercise on the beach to collect shells.

Do show me what you've made by sending me a photo or video to the google classroom.

Week beginning Monday 11th May

Reception aquarium elephant.mp4

Here's a little lesson looking at three movements from the Carnival of the Animals, The cuckoo, the Aquarium and now, the elephant! Reception children might like to sing the Fairytale song to go with their Jack and the Beanstalk work and anyone wanting an under the sea rap from Andy should click here!

Watch the video above where we learn all about 'The Aquarium', 'The elephant' and 'The Cuckoo' from the carnical of the Animals. Think about the different sounds that come to mind when you listen to the movements and how does your body move differently if you're dancing to the music?

Week beginning Monday 4th May - Under the Sea

Reception 27:4 - SD 480p.mov

Here is a little lesson for Reception children (and anyone else!). This week we learn a song about being under the sea and talk about another movement from The Carnival of the Animals.

Watch the video above where we learn all about 'The Aquarium'. Think about the different sounds that come to mind when you listen to the aquarium and see if you can find similar sounds around the house! (Be careful!)

If you want to learn, sing or dance to another song this one from the Little Mermaid is my favourite!!

Week beginning Monday 27th April

Reception 27:4 - SD 480p.mov

Here is a little lesson for Reception children (and anyone else!) who would like to sing our Spring song and learn about a piece of music called The Cuckoo. It also has details of this week's musical and art challenges. (more info below)

Watch the video above where we learn all about 'The Cuckoo' and we talk about the differences between pitched and un-pitched musical instruments.

Try making your own musical instruments at home. There are lots of great ideas here. Do show me what you've made by sending me a photo or video to the google classroom or bring it to our singing session on Friday and play along!

After you've watched the video about the Cuckoo, I'd love you to make me some Cuckoo or bird artwork. Perhaps a collage made from things found in your garden or a paining or drawing about cuckoos, birds or anything you can see or hear outisde.

Do show me what you've made by sending me a photo or video to the google classroom.

NHS Heroes Community project - I am working on a Walhampton community project linked with the NHS heroes campaign. The prep school children are singing and playing 'Over the rainbow' as well as sending in footage of the Thursday evening clapping. Please see more details here. There are lots of aspects that your brilliant kids could to do to contribute.

Week beginning Monday 20th April

Learn the song I like Spring I do. Here's a video to help you learn the song and then try singing along to the whole song here.

See if you can think of some actions to go with our song.

Draw a picture of your garden and think of things that you can find that are 'living' or things that grow.
